Unfortunately no: you have made the same (incorrect) assumption I made
when first encountering a Greenstone .bdb file. In the rest of the
world, a bdb database would indictae a Berkeley DB database. In
Greenstone, it is a Big-endian GDBM database. (At least, that's what
I now assume, and that .ldb is a Little-endian GDBM database.)
